Join professional trapper Jerry Ward and survival instructor Tony Nester for 5-days of instruction covering all aspects of trapping and hunting.

This hands-on course is held at our new basecamp in the canyons near Bluff, Utah. Each day will allow practice and application of realistic food procurement methods.

With guidance from Jerry and Tony, you will learn to set a proper trapline, participate on daily hunts, refine tracking skills, and learn firsthand what's involved in putting meat on the table.

Topics covered include:

 
Animal tracking skills for reading the landscape and increasing success in hunting.
Role of the modern-day trapper and trapping ethics and conservation.
Use of commercial lures, baits, and scents for trapping.
Modern trapping methods using conibears and wire snares with the emphasis being on trapping beaver, coyote, and fox.
Primitive trapping using deadfalls and natural materials.
Modern firearms such as hunting rifles and small-game pistols along with proper ammo selection.
Improvised primitive hunting tools such as throwing sticks, slingshots, and quickie bows.
Skinning, cleaning, and cooking wild game.
Cleaning and tanning small-game hides.
 
The Trap is Set - Learning trapping techniques during this unique outdoor survival course.All methods utilized are in accordance with Utah Fish & Game Laws. Two meals a day are provided. You can bring any camping gear needed to be comfortable.

Course starts and ends in Bluff, Utah. You can also catch a ride with us from Flagstaff the day before the course begins. Information on hunting and trapping licenses will be included in the registration packet sent upon receiving course payment.
